Today we are interviewing LaToya Lawson about her crime / mystery thriller / suspense novel, titled “MA’SITTER.”

Tell us a bit about yourself.
I was born in Chicago, IL but I was raised in Mississippi. I have always loved to write since Middle School in Canton. Once, I moved to Jackson I started writing short stories. I have always been adventurous and not afraid to do whatever I want. I consider myself to be a self-teacher. Because I look in too everything and then teach myself. When I am not teaching myself lol. I love riding my motorcycle, cooking and baking.

Describe the plot of your new book, “MA’SITTER,” in a few sentences.
MA’SITTER is a cross between The Help and True Detective. Many will assume they already know what the book consists of from its title. You will have to read the book in its entirety to grab the concept of the story.

Who do you think would most appreciate this book?
Anyone enjoys a funny realistic read.

Tell us about the protagonist, Victoria.
Victoria is a strong yet naïve young woman.  That has taken on more than she would have ever imagined. She will learn a lot from her new career as a private caregiver.

What is the relationship like between Mr. and Mrs. Lane?
Let’s just say some people marry for love and others marry for convenience.

How do the Lanes view Victoria?
Mrs. Lane’s seems her as a person that is much needed in her life. And I guess we might as say Mr. Lane does as well.

At first, Victoria is impressed with the Lanes’ lifestyle. How does this change as she learns more about them?
Victoria quickly learns nothing is truly what we see.

Victoria, an honest, hard-working person, finds herself in a world of deceit and conspiracy. How does she handle entering this world?
Victoria becomes sucked in like a Hurricane and tossed around in a Tornado of deceit.
She is doing her best to hold on.

What attracted you to the psychological thriller genre?
To be able to write this kind of book is a dream come true to me. Many people might see this kind of behavior in real life or even think about it. But to have the freedom to write about it is another avenue.

Is there an author that had a major influence on your writing style?
I love the writing style of J.K. Rowling and Steven King.

How long have you been writing?
Since the 8th grade.

Who was your favorite character to write?
The Benton’s!!

How do you think you've evolved as a writer since when you first started?
Oh, I can cuss now lol.

Yes, I am taking notes from my first book reviews to ensure the second book gives my reader’s everything that this book might have missed.

To publish more books and become a best-selling author.

How have your readers responded to the book so far?
So far nothing but positive feedback!

Is there any aspect of writing you don't like?
Typing!! I would love to lay out on a sofa, close my eyes and tell someone exactly what to type for me. Ohhhh wishful thinking. LOL

Have you ever had writer's block? If yes, how'd you deal with it? If you have not had writer's block, why do you think you haven't?
I haven’t had writers block so far (knock on wood) because my mind stays active and switching gears. I am a dreamer and have always been one.
