Eric Henry, Author of Hunt or Fail

hunt or fail, author eric henry, network marketing book, business book, how to mlm, mlm book, multilevel marketing

Today we are interviewing Eric Henry, author of the network marketing/business book "Hunt or Fail."

Tell us a bit about yourself.
I’m an investor. My field is commercial real estate. Prior to this I worked in distribution and import/export splitting my time across Washington, D.C., Miami, FL and Africa. I am extremely driven, but it’s not out of greed… it’s because I’ve seen what can happen when people don’t think money is important.

Describe the purpose of your book in a few sentences.
We really wanted to jump into the debate about network marketing. There is a huge section of business people who make fun of beginner network marketers and call them spammers or scammers… but then on the top you have hedge fund managers investing billions into these companies and even fighting over the ethical issues and shorting the companies… it’s quite a spectacle. So we really wanted to add our insight into it having been pitched by a top performer in the industry.

What was exposed was a key that anyone can use in order to get wealth. This is a secret to success and happiness. If you follow the advice in this book you will have no choice but to grow and begin to become a hunter. You’ll see the world differently after following the advice in this book.

Who do you think would most appreciate this book?

That’s an interesting question. On one end there are the people who are actively practicing what we say to do in this book… these people have mansions, supercars, time freedom, awesome relationships... and then you have a larger group who want to be wealthy but are paralyzed by fear or lack of training, but will still join the network marketing companies. Unfortunately a lot of them are fed magical-thinking books that keep them in a state of consumption of the products, but keep them from producing. We give the solution to this in the book.

We wanted to reveal what no one’s talking about.

What inspired you to write a book about network marketing?

We were at a nightclub in Miami where people go to show off their wealth… typically someone will purchase tables in bulk and then flip them to other wealthy people. A $10k table will even be bid up to $30k sometimes depending on the event. There’s this big secondary market for this… their game is all about proving their worth by showing how much money they can spend. The network marketing team we met were making so much money that they were free to do this and meet other people succeeding as well.

We were in a company with members from South America who lived by this code… completely spoiled, hundreds of thousands at their disposal (and multi-millions at their parents disposal), little attachment to reality… and no successes under their belt. We tried bridging the gap between their fantasies and the real opportunity we saw right in front of us, which was one of the most challenging tasks we’ve ever taken on and in hindsight, too charitable.

Their parents kept them at a distance so they’d figure it out on their own which was understandable, but it turned out to be a big mistake because they ran from the best opportunities and ran towards the terrible ones. To make a long story short, people would approach us all the time with business opportunities. One the most prominent occurred at the nightclub when the network marketer started talking to us. Turned out he was a leader in one of the biggest MLM companies. By the way… we left the name of the MLM company out on purpose, because we didn’t want to have a bias. The approach we detail in the book can be used by any network marketing company and many businesses, in fact.

The network marketer wanted to expand to South America and needed our help to do it. We met him later on and he explained to us the real business model… how the top really view their sign-ups. He covered the mindset and the skills needed to succeed. It was jaw-dropping.

Tell us a bit about your experience working with a network marketer you met at a club in Miami.
They were professional and their confidence was inspiring. They gave us a presentation at this mega office in Coconut Grove… right on top of a supercar dealership. They already did their homework on the culture they wanted to market towards and knew it was very hierarchical. They also knew the average person was typically uneducated. If the “high society” people did something... they expected a huge percentage to jump in. What they offered was for us to sign up beneath them and funnel all the expansion directly under us… so in essence, for little work we’d be guaranteed to be at the top of the pyramid. They did, however, need our boss's collaboration and presence in the marketing.

Our boss was very interested initially but then backed out completely once he realized he had to do work.

Every few months we'd get contacted by the network marketer asking us if our boss was still ignoring talking about it… it was hard telling him he was more interested in video games than work and was rotting in his room with coca cola bottles everywhere.

What was your understanding of network marketing like prior to meeting this network marketer and his inner circle?
We had done one in high school for a few months and it really helped our conversational skills, cold-calling, approach anxiety, management skills, humility, confidence and salesmanship but we were too young to really get what it was offering and too afraid to put ourselves out there. It is scary. You’re getting so much rejection and losing most of your friends in the process. I mean, that’s the case no matter what success you have… it’s like crabs in a barrel… the fisherman don’t need lids because when one tries to escape the other crabs grab their legs. It’s not even personal… it’s just most people don’t want to have your success show their failure. Ever wonder why so many lottery winners wish it never happened to them? They weren’t forced to grow as a person in order to handle that power, as people do who create their own wealth.

What do you think are some of the biggest misconceptions people have about the network marketing industry?
I’d say first is that it’s a pyramid scheme. It’s completely legal. Also working 40 hours a week selling your time at wholesale to an employer is somehow better and somehow less of a scam? How is a corporate ladder not a pyramid scheme? You’ve got the board, a CEO, top management, middle management, supervisors and employees.

You could write a book on this topic itself on how corporations exploit people’s time and money. They are the actual pyramid schemes. And the courts ruled what they did regarding network marketing… it’s legal. For many, however, they will be more comfortable working jobs and leaving the harder psychological work to their higher ups.  Our book is for the people who know corporations are a scam, don’t care about the inevitable shakeup to the power structures of their friends and family, and want to be their own boss already with little to no risk involved. The risk in network marketing is from not knowing the mindset in our book… it’s that black or white.

How do you think reading your book will impact people?
Our hope is that it is going to help people and make them stronger. The business world is brutal and unforgiving… you have to be tough. We worked hard to create a step-by-step approach that can be modified in unison with a network marketing team leader and yourself so that the process is duplicatable. Our intention here is to help create giant downlines for network marketers. This book will do that.

What do you have in mind for your next writing project?

We are working on a few self-help guides and motivational books. Our prized book in development shows all the things one should NOT do in a business start-up, using many examples from numerous companies we have been in. Sometimes studying what not to do is just as valuable as studying what you should do. We see a clear lack of these books in the marketplace right now. We have multiple contributors on this project so it will be about a year until that one is finished.

Is there anything else you'd like potential readers to know about your book?
If you really want success in network marketing… this book is the key. Once you read the book you'll see there's really no other choice.

Richard Jeanty, Author of Sexual Exploits of a Nympho

richard jeanty, sexual nympho, exploits of a nympho, nympho book

Today we are interviewing Richard Jeanty, author of the erotica series "Sexual Exploits of a Nympho."

Tell us a bit about yourself.
I’m an author and publisher. I’ve been writing for the last 13 years. I’ve written 19 books and published over 50 books written by other authors that are signed to my company. I grew up in Boston and graduated from the University of Massachusetts in Boston. I also attended Boston University graduate school of Communication. I’m a former high school teacher, social worker, program director and financial adviser. My vast background and experience has allowed me to be multi-faceted as an author in many different genres.

Describe your series, “Sexual Exploits of a Nympho,” in a few sentences.

"Sexual Exploits of a Nympho" is a coming of age story of a young lady discovering her sexual vices, as well as the adjustments she needs to make, in order to live a fruitful life filled with love, prosperity and happiness.

Who do you think would most appreciate this book?

It opens the reader’s eyes to sexual addiction and other related problems to sex. This book will benefit anyone interested in the subject of sex, and the possible dangers associated with sexual addiction and promiscuity.

What inspired you to write a book about a woman with sex addiction that impacts her relationship with her boyfriend?
I was inspired by a young lady I actually went to school with. Her promiscuity was fascinating to me.
I wanted to know the reasons she was so promiscuous.

Tell us a bit about the protagonist, Tina.
Tina is just a young lady slowly discovering her insatiable sexual appetite and figuring out the best way to deal with it. The relationship between her parents is what peak her sexual curiosity. She’s smart, attractive, gifted and she enjoys sex.

Without giving too much away, how does Darren feel about Tina’s behavior?
Darren is the boyfriend that can’t let go. His unconditional love for Tina is tested, but he’s in it for the long haul. He understands she needs him, but more importantly, he loves her.

How do you hope readers respond to the series?

Readers have responded well to this series. It’s the second best-selling series I’ve written. The majority of readers have praised this series for the refreshing approach taken by me as a writer.

What do you have in mind for your next project?

Not sure yet, but something is coming this fall. I’m gonna have a pleasant surprise for those readers who have been waiting for my next book.

Is there anything else you'd like potential readers to know about your book?
My goal as a writer is to keep the reader glued to the pages. I want them to gasp for air on a needed basis. I want them to know this is a page-turner from beginning to end.

Neal Bogosian, Author of The Age of Healing

age of healing, neal bogosian, how to energy heal, energy healing, energy healing book

Today we are interviewing Neal Bogosian, author of THE AGE OF HEALING: Profiles from an Energy Healer.

Tell us a bit about yourself.
I am a certified public educator, and former public school teacher. I am also the author of the young adult and sports novel, THE ADVENTURES OF CHIP DOOLIN. I hold a double Master’s Degree in Education, a BS Degree in Communications, and a degree from The American Academy of Dramatic Arts. I presently work as a holistic healer, writer and author. I have had my own holistic healing practice since 2010, and I am certified in Quantum Touch Levels I & II, the latter of which incorporates heart energy. As a result of my interest and passion for the study of energy, energy healing, and its countless applications, I extended my understanding through personal research and countless hours of live trials, and practicum. I was also previously on the staff of the Integrated Care Program, at Women & Infants Hospital, for the oncology ward.

Describe the purpose of your book in a few sentences.
The purpose of the book is to remind people who we really are; I believe we have forgotten our true potential, and gotten lost in the sea of society that is often marked by regimen and controls. In the process, I think we have lost part of ourselves. I think that most people in mainstream society are not aware of how much power they really do have – I’m talking about human potential and personal empowerment. We have been taught in school and in life that there are limits; to depend on others and institutions, and even government for our well-being, but in doing so we give so much away. If we think in limits and boundaries we are putting limits on ourselves. The assessment of human capacity is incomplete, and I wanted to let people know that there are other ways of relieving symptoms and feeling better, and we really do have the power, in many instances, to heal each other. We are truly powerful beings, and holistic energy healing is a real alternative.
holistic healer, energy healer, energy healing, neal bogosian
Author/holistic healer Neal Bogosian

Who do you think would most appreciate this book?
Anyone who is seeking other ways to feel better and achieve well-being, or who frequent self-help, and health and fitness books; those who are spiritual and/or have a passion for natural living, alternative medicine, alternative healing, wellness, holistic living, and independence, who wish to read about a set of sessions that actually demonstrate human energy potential. Also, naturopaths, reiki healers, and massage therapists. Lastly, anyone interested in further exploring the untapped capacities of humanity, energy, and quantum physics; those seekers of life who have not yet grasped that there really is more to us than what physically appears in the mirror.

What inspired you to write a book about energy healing sessions?
I saw a need for it. I wanted to take people inside actual sessions to give them an insight into what occurs through the eyes of the healer, and the meeting of energies between client and healer. I think there needs to be more revelation and enlightenment on the subject of natural healing. My intent was also to further familiarize people in the mainstream with energy healing, and hopefully make them feel less apprehensive about seeking it out as an alternative therapy – but it’s not so alternative. It has been in existence for thousands of years. Society has become so programmed to Western medicine as the ‘end all–be all’. As I write in my book, I have an old copy of Fate Magazine from 1958. Do you know what is advertised in there? Yoga! This means it took almost 50 years for Yoga to assimilate into Western culture. This should shed some light on how narrow the scope has been toward other health modalities beyond Western medicine. In fact, the magazine was considered in the classification of the occult. I don’t think many people would classify Yoga as being of the occult today.

One of the themes of the book is that we’ve reached an age of empowerment. What allowed us to reach this point?
Energy and truth. We are seeing both of these play out in our national and global society. I believe we are in the midst of an awakening. The veil of deception, in both personal and global perspectives, is falling off and gradually revealing some raw truths. Simultaneous to this are major earth shifts. Look at all of the volcanoes throughout the world that are suddenly awakening at the same time. This is no coincidence. However, these are also energy shifters. The frequencies are shifting and evolving on our planet, awakening not only dormant volcanoes, but also deeply embedded cellular patterns in humanity, down to our DNA. Subtle changes are occurring in how people view the world and their own reality; that which may have been of supreme importance ten or fifteen years ago, and for most of the 20th century, is suddenly not so important – this also is not coincidental. It is where resonant frequencies come into play, which elicits the topic of oneness. We are absolutely all one…and we share the same fate of temporary incarnation, which should bring us together, not divide us. The more people come together irrespective of controlling bodies and institutions, for a good, peaceful, socially responsible and loving cause, empowering energy surfaces and spreads. So…this is a literal thing that is occurring. It’s not just an idea, in my opinion. We are going through some very volatile times, but I believe something wonderful awaits on the other side of this cycle – the phoenix that rises up, ushering in a new era. It is one of the reasons we are seeing so much upheaval and wrestle for control on the planet. Therefore, it’s also about surrender of the self and a release of ego, the latter of which has harmed and damaged progress throughout the concourse of human history. This is why I named the book, THE AGE OF HEALING.

What kinds of ailments are healed in the book?
Well, the word “healed” is a term of conclusive finality, as if to say the client came to me and their ailment(s) were instantly cured. As readers will discover, this is not like miracle work. It is working with the body’s natural energies and frequencies. Therefore there are different degrees of healing that occur on multiple levels. In the book I discuss a range, from those that were complete, to those that resulted in short or long-term relief of the client’s symptoms. If you are suffering from an ailment that is stress-related, and you leave my healing room feeling better and relieved of your ailment, but you go right back the next day to your stressful lifestyle, over time, your conditions could return. It’s much like that quote widely attributed to Einstein, “the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting a different result.” However, I do discuss actual healings of chronic allergies; kidney stone; headaches and various bodily pains. Energy healing is also effective in alleviating the side-effects of chemotherapy. I had a late-stage cancer client who gained seven pounds and their vitality while undergoing chemo – they even wanted to go back to the gym! I also discuss the alleviation and release of pain that a client was experiencing, associated with the personal loss of a loved one, which resulted in a very lucid dream of that loved one later that night; and another client with diastasis, who lost 4 inches off her waistline, after just two sessions, and never had to do another thing for it. I’ve worked with a client to realign pelvic bones that alleviated hip pain, and I tell the successful healing story of another client who was told he was going blind – his vision actually sharpened and the symptoms began to reverse. All of this is discussed in the book, as well as episodes that were more spiritual in nature, such as clients who had out-of-body experiences, and another client who had the wherewithal to take pictures during her healing, and she captured white healing orbs in the area surrounding her leg, where I was sending energy, and where her injury was – her pain and injury was gone by the end of the session. I have the orb photos on my website at: QuantumEnergyTreatment.com. I’ve also experienced energy masses or blockages actually rise up through my client’s leg and my hand – we both felt it and it was amazing.

Can you describe for us a typical energy healing session?
Sure. For a physical in-person healing session – I conduct distant healing sessions as well – I am usually first given an overview of the issue that the client would like addressed. When the client arrives, they fill out an in-take form. Unlike a massage, the client remains fully clothed and gets on my table, lying comfortably on their back. I then begin the session, with specified intentions based on their given issues or ailments. It is a very relaxing experience, and clients usually report a variety of sensations and results, ranging from heat and tingling sensations, shifting energies within their bodies and muscle groups, a sense of weightlessness, and many will also fall into a deep sleep or healing trance, waking up refreshed. It is important to drink water following each session because water not only acts as a conductor of energy, but it also will flush through the system. The energy from a session will continue to work and flow for up 48 or 72 hours.

What do you think are some of the biggest misconceptions about energy healing?
People often believe that we must be able to physically see, touch and hold that which can help, heal or benefit us. The truth is that what we cannot see in unseen space, is far, far more powerful than that which we can see, in the physical domain. Quantum physicists like Niels Bohr, and geniuses like Nikola Tesla were very much aware of this concept, and not only considered it in their work, but incorporated it. We live in a mental universe, largely determined by mind and manifestation. Another misconception is that some people who are not familiar with energy healing expect it to work like a miracle. We are, each of us complex, in the sense that we have different ailments, but also vastly different life histories. For much of Western culture, society has gotten used to taking a pill or pharmaceutical that masks the symptoms, and is often addictive; it may alleviate a symptom for a few or several hours, but the next day another pill(s) need to be taken. This cycle perpetuates. I am not suggesting an end to pharmaceuticals, but rather a better understanding of what many of them do. Just because a doctor may offer them, doesn’t mean they are good for you; the doctor is simply doing his job in seeking to alleviate or diminish a set of symptoms that are present. Energy healing is not a miracle, but miracle-like results can occur; it does not mask the symptoms, but rather begins to go straight to the source, to address the root cause. Energy is intelligent…it knows where to go, and we are energetic beings. Energy healing also works at a cellular, molecular level. It can reverse a variety of issues.

The book includes a list of activities that the reader can do to amplify his/her well-being. Can you tell us a bit more about these activities?
I wanted to provide the reader with a short list of things to do, to combat some of the issues they may be facing. I used to work in corporate America, so I know what can occur, and I also worked as a full-time special education teacher in a public high school, where stress levels can spike at a moment’s notice. Similarly, I’m aware of the effects of negativity and constant cynicism inside of a home. I have encountered negative environments in some households I’ve visited to conduct healing sessions, and it gave me an immediate indication of what kind of home environment persists. It has been proven that chronic stress can actually alter brain chemistry, and I believe that chronic, constant negativity can also fester and cause issues. However, positive energy is hundreds of times more powerful than negative, and I know that I can clear the immediate space that encompasses my client and me. Therefore, I wanted to give some activities and exercises that people could do – quick ‘charge-ups’, clearings and refreshers – to cleanse their energy fields and their minds of any inhibiting energies. Some of them can be done either in the workplace or at home. I think it’s important for people to know that our energy fields can extend several feet outward, and so…other people’s energetic junk can get stuck in those fields. I believe it is why some people may go to work in the morning feeling perfectly refreshed, only to return home at six or seven o’clock completely drained. It’s almost like a psychic drain. This also lends credence to what I said earlier about people’s life histories…there is much that can contribute to a particular health issue. Anyway, I provided the reader with some additional healing tools of their own that begin to exercise and activate their imaginations, minds, and energy. There’s also a loving energy exercise to do with a partner or loved one.

What was the most interesting thing you uncovered while doing research for the book?
The most interesting thing is that there has been so much written on the subject of energy, human potential, and the latent powers of the mind, but very little finds its way into the mainstream news channels – it rarely enters people’s conscious peripheries. Instead, we are bombarded by pharmaceutical advertisements, negative or agenda-filled news segments…and the latest gossip. These do absolutely nothing to empower us. Much of the content, such as pharmaceutical ads, have subliminal and subtextual effects on our minds. People need to start to ask themselves, is it right that I’m constantly being bombarded with ways that I can be sick, and pills that can help me if I am sick? Wouldn’t it be more beneficial for me, to focus on sound health rather than sickness? Many of the commercials, I believe, act like suggestions to the mind, and as I say in my book, they want to make sure that you know what ailment you could get, and if you do…what pill you need to take for it. We need to shift our focus in our society. A perfect example is cancer. Words carry energy, and the word alone elicits fear within the body and mind, and yet, ribbons and signs and fundraisers are everywhere. Instead of run for cancer, bike for cancer, walk for cancer, and cancer ribbons, how about we replace that with Run for Health, Bike for Health, Walk for Health, and Health ribbons. Which one sounds more empowering? Our thoughts have energetic frequencies; they circulate. Everything is energy. So, what I uncovered in my research is that the principles of mind and energy that support what I’ve just said, have been written about for years, but…staying healthy doesn’t make drug companies and the medical industry money. However conspiratorial that may sound, it’s true. I tell people to shut off their volume or television when pharmaceuticals are advertised on television. Leave it to your doctor to tell you what you need. It’s easy to get stuck in all of the downtrodden messages, but many people don’t realize it’s happening to them. Our minds are very powerful – but also easily impressionable, and our bodies are loyal servants to the mind.

How do you think reading your book will impact people?
Hmm…for those not familiar with energy healing of any form, I hope it broadens their acceptance and view of other available ways to make them feel better. I think people who read it will ponder more about their minds and their imaginations, and the powers we have within that are vastly under-utilized. I think the book might compel many people to become seekers of more. To this end, I think there may be some revelation and wonder, which would be an honor. I care about people and the world very much. It is why I pursued energy healing…it really all stems from love, which is the most powerful of emotions, not in a romantic sense, but in a frequency sense. Walk into a room where there is love and positive energy and most people want to stay.

What do you have in mind for your next writing project?
I am working on a few things right now. I’ve written another novel, which is actually a book of peace and entails many holistic elements, about two enemy soldiers during wartime, which I hope to release in the next year or so. The working subtitle is INTO THE NEXT WORLD, and it is every bit about that, since I believe we are living in some of the most unique times every recorded in human history, and will eventually lead to a proverbial new world – and with all of the geologic activity going on right now, perhaps even a new earth. There are already new land formations rising out of the ocean, and so, the novel immerses into these emerging times, and dips into the myriad possibilities of love and peace; a world without conflict – which I think will define our next age, despite all of the shifts, upheaval, and sinister acts we are presently witnessing unfold on our globe. Oftentimes, extremes are needed so we can appreciate the good in life, and upheaval can be on the path to healing. I’ve also written a double-episode television pilot on the life of Nikola Tesla that continues to evolve in my mind, and I hope to soon start work on a futuristic novel with a writing partner that actually incorporates some energy principles, and subtextually espouses the importance of maintaining and preserving the sanctity of life and freedom. I would then like to assess the feedback from THE AGE OF HEALING and determine what type of follow-up book might be best; what the readers and audience feel might have been missing in the book, or what more they would like to know about energy, energy healing and human potential.

Is there anything else you'd like potential readers to know about your book?
I am available for questions, discussion or clarification. Readers can reach me through my website. If they’d like to schedule a session – local or distant healing – they can call me directly. There is a place in the book that explains how they can get a discounted session. The contact number is also on my website. The book should be a beginning and continuance of the dialogue on energy healing, not an ending. For readers, I hope it becomes a bridge for much more; I hope it spurs their curiosity and enacts their imagination – because that is where it all starts…the mind. It is really all quite beautiful.

Author Sanedra Pegues

What inspired you to write a book that help people pursue their dreams?
I was working on a nonfiction book when I was talking with a co-worker. The talk we had actually inspired me to write my book about going after your dreams. So, I put my nonfiction to the side and started on "Dare To Live Your Best Life Now." She was one of many that need that push in their life to get started.

What are the biggest obstacles that stop people from pursuing their dreams?

In my book, I mentioned 3 of the most common things that will hinder people from going after their dreams. When you purchase the book not only will you find out, but you will also be told how to overcome it.

How do you think that reading your book will impact people?

This book will be a tremendous blessing to everyone regardless of where they are in life. It has to start with the reader. This book will only help you continue to go after what you wanted to do but haven’t yet.

What do you have in mind for your next writing project?

I am an author who doesn't have a specific genre. I want to and WILL do it all except erotica. I’m currently writing a nonfiction book that will have an great meaning to it. Regardless of where you come from or how you were raised, you can become a powerful person and help change the world. It’s a touchy book but with a great ending and meaning. It’s coming out by the end of this month.

Robert C. Stone, Author of Circle of Wisdom

robert c stone, circle of wisdom, business fable, leadership fable, business parable

Today we are interviewing Robert C. Stone author of the business fable "Circle of Wisdom: A Path for Life, Mind and Leadership."

Tell us a bit about yourself.
I grew up on stages and at Chamber of Commerce meetings. “Somehow” I developed passions for leadership and public speaking. I’ve also been an osteopathic physician for twenty years specializing in psychiatry. About ten years ago, I saw the intersection between the challenges of working in business team settings and my work, particularly with trauma survivor populations.

The latest cognitive therapies are based on modern neuroscience interpretations of ancient teachings designed to decrease suffering and seek the wisdom we all have inherently available within us. About this time I was invited to give my first week-long Fortune 500 training in Wisdom Leadership. It was an intense and life-changing experience.

A decision I made at that time was that the best way to transmit this knowledge, this process, was by telling it as a story. This book is that story. Stories give readers the opportunity to resonate and absorb as they are ready. They can discard and keep as they choose, then re-read at the right time.

Since giving that initial training, I have promised though various media to more than 4 million people that I would make this book available to the public. Now seems to be the right time to make good on those promises.

What I won’t do here is talk about these principles. That’s the story’s job. I will let you know that this is not just a theoretical path, though. I have tested, honed and proved on my own and with many talented peers the effectiveness of the Circle of Wisdom in developing new business teams, healing broken corporate and agency systems and ‘turning around’ a large state healthcare program strangled for years by typical bureaucratic practices.

My first leadership role was as a manager for an AMC Theater in Dallas while I was still pre-med. During medical school, I co-founded Education Research Laboratories, Inc., which became an Apple award winning innovator and one of the first producers of handheld medical references.

I have had numerous leadership roles within medicine, culminating in a year as the Medical Director for the Southern Nevada Adult Mental Health System. A state auditor during my tenure there declared that, “In thirty years of auditing, I’ve never seen a state agency turn around in four months.”

And the process continues, the path goes on.

Describe the plot of your new book in a few sentences.
Three managers at a modern ranch try to endure the latest consultant the owner has brought in to fix things. But this time, it’s different. It’s personal. And not everyone may survive.

Who do you think would most appreciate this book?

It was written for Fortune 500 upper management but has been used by psychotherapists, hospital administrators and trauma survivors. Anyone who wants to add the power of Wisdom to their lives, whether personal or business.

What inspired you to write a book about wisdom in leadership?
A friend of mind remarked one day about the similarity of working with some of my trauma survivors and the problems his company was facing. After just a little reflection, I realized he was right and my parallel paths of psychiatry and leadership became joined. This happened during an intense period of Buddhist study, which was the piece that brought it all together.

Why did you decide to use a parable of animals managing a ranch to tell your story?
There is no getting away from Orwell if you decide to write about animal characters, and that’s OK. The animals allow us to see into characters with less defensiveness than if they are written all as humans. Then we are free to see as much of them in ourselves as we are ready to see. It also helps transform a very complex and deep wisdom path into a process that we can all understand and implement at our level of courageous honesty.

In your book, the path of the Circle of Wisdom is a central idea. Can you elaborate a bit on this idea?

I will never forget the day that I was finally outlining the path itself and I realized that the last part of the last step was the exact same as the first part of the first step. I yelled out, “It’s a circle!” And so it is. Problems have within them the solutions if we can look deeply enough within them and within ourselves. But every solution is also guaranteed to bring problems. If we don’t understand this reality, we will eventually try to stop and rest on our successes which will then stagnate and potentially fail if we do. Neither problem nor solution is good or bad in itself. It’s just the process necessary to bring wisdom into all of our actions, reactions and decisions.

What do you think are some of the biggest misconceptions people have about wisdom in leadership?
That it’s something someone else can give you.

How has your career and life experiences influenced your writing?
Well, my parents were Shakespearean actors, as well as active in the business community and teaching. So it’s in my DNA to start. In my profession as a psychiatrist, I have learned the power of story. It’s a power that can destroy and create. It must be wielded wisely. For the first decade, my practice was primarily survivors of severe trauma, torture and combat. That intense exposure to the shadow of humanity drives me in many ways to write. It eventually led me to get my MFA in Creative Writing.

Are there any authors who have influenced your writing style?

Modern Authors that just spring to mind quickly are John Irving & Michael Chabon. Many of the canonical writers. I did my MFA in Poetry. The number of poets is too long, but they got me through med school! Also some modern Buddhist writers.

Can you tell us a bit about your creative process, from the initial idea to the finished manuscript?
Entirely different for each genre. I wrote my first novel for my kids. Just started in one day during my residency and cashed in on a decade of studying story. Similar for my first screenplay.

For short stories and poems, I often write them for a purpose, as a gift or to memorialize an event. Poetry is more of a practice for me now that I’ve studied it formally.

I published my first 20 scientific/medical papers while I was still in med school. I like that kind of writing as well. Putting very complex concepts into a simple expression that makes the complexity accessible to more readers.

How do you hope readers are impacted by your book?
I guess primarily by taking a breath, realizing that all the ‘stuff’ going on inside them is OK. Then working on being able to look closely at it without judgment and harnessing the power that comes from that to direct their lives and possibly the lives of others in meaningful and beneficial ways.

How do you feel about the increasing popularity of ebooks?

I thought I’d be a holdout. I still love having a physical book, and some types of research still workout better with paper, but I’ve totally converted to reading on my iPad or iPhone. It’s always available, and with the current screen technology, I find it even easier on the eyes and a very pleasant experience.

Is there any aspect of writing you don't like?
Any writer who tells you they like writing is probably fibbing, at least a bit. I think Dorothy Parker nailed it with, “I hate writing, I love having written.” I think this applies when you’re writing from and about the heart. When you’re writing to mean something, or say something that probably can’t be put into words. It’s rough. It should be. But it sure feels good when it’s done. A sheer sense of accomplishment that somehow transcends any misery the moment might be bringing.

Do you write with a computer, typewriter, or pen and paper? Why do you use this tool?

Primarily I write on the computer but I do like writing poetry with pen and paper too. Something about slowing down the thought process a bit.

What do you have in mind for your next project?

I have two 40 page outlines of the non-fiction business partner books for "Circle of Wisdom." It would be stupid not to write them. But I have a burning fiction series that has to get started or I’m going to irritate everyone at home beyond capacity.

Is there anything else you'd like potential readers to know about your book?

One of the beauties of following a Wisdom path is that there is no proselytizing, no selling anything or trying to convince anyone of anything. So I was able to write this book with the idea that people can take whatever works for them from it. It’s a way, not a religion.

Oh, and I’m very excited that I will be getting the audiobook this month read by P.J. Ochlan! Google him. He’s an amazing screen and voice actor. He does these amazing character voices, and he completely ‘got’ Circle of Wisdom when he read it. My discussion with him before his recording was a highlight of my journey with this book.

An excerpt from "Circle of Wisdom":
Pek laughed bitterly on his way back to the hen house. He loved the expression on Ruf and Nay’s faces when he greeted them with that “Namasté” garbage. But what he loved even more was how gullible OM and Dal were. They really thought he’d bought into their plan. Fools, fools, fools!
When he looked back on things, he saw that OM had given him other opportunities to take charge in the past – but none were as wide open as this one. Pek was going to prove to OM that he had leadership tools way beyond anything some llama could teach. He was going to show that he had the skills to rule over much more than a stupid bunch of hens.
He entered the hen house and slammed the door. He walked into the middle of the room, spread his wings, and yelled, “Shut up!”
He turned in circles, looking at all the hens. His eyes blazed. The hens quieted some, but not nearly enough.
“I mean it. Shut up right now!” he screamed at the top of his beak.
What is up, he thought. Yesterday I only had to yell once. How mad do I have to get to command their attention?
“Maybe this will quiet you down.” He waved a report for all to see. “My first act as supreme manager of the hens is going to be to fire ten percent of you. The worst ten percent. I’ll let you figure out who goes and who doesn’t. Hen coordinators – I expect your recommendations by close of business today.”
Lucinda, one of the hen coordinators spoke up. “Pek, if we’re trying to increase production by ten percent, how can we afford to fire ten percent?”
“The way I see it, the bad ten percent haven’t been producing their fair share to begin with. Those who are left will know they’d better get their production in line or we’ll make even deeper cuts. That’s just the way of the world.”
“Aren’t there any other alternatives? Can you give us a week before you make a formal decision? This is the first we’ve heard about potential layoffs.”
“I’m not talking about layoffs,” Pek said sharply. “I’m talking about firing.”
Lucinda took a few steps forward and dipped her beak. “But, Pek,” she said in a hushed tone, “you know what it means for a hen to get fired.”
Lucinda clearly misunderstood her place. Pek’s ire rose. “Go, go, go! I’ve had way past enough from you.”
Lucinda took a step back, but she held Pek’s eyes. Lucinda was a valuable hen and a huge producer, but she’d better learn how things worked around here. Pek leaned toward her until his beak practically touched hers. “If you have any thoughts of going outside the hen house with any of this, you can consider yourself first on the firing line? Am I clear?”
“You’ll get your recommendations, Pek,” Lucinda said tersely.
“Then everything will be fine,” Pek said, turning away.

AARIS, Author of The Girl Who Made Me Sing!...

the girl who made me sing, AARIS, AARIS author, romantic comedy, black humour book, black humor book
Today we are interviewing AARIS, author "The Girl Who Made Me Sing," a romantic comedy with a touch of black humour.

Describe the plot of your new book in a few sentences.
The story is about a broken young man who has lost his way stuck in a abusive relationship. He is saved from this life by the power of music. He meets a beautiful woman who teaches him to sing and they embark on a wonderful romantic adventure. The book allows the reader to remember their first true love and their childlike innocence, when they used to believe in fairy tales.

Who do you think would most appreciate "The Girl Who Made Me Sing"?
The book is aimed for individuals who feel trapped by their low self-esteems and looking for help.  It reminds them, never to give up, and that sometimes magic happens and fairy tales do come true.

What inspired you to write a novel about a young man who aspires to sing a song that uplifts those around him?
Having been brought up in London, watching countless of west end shows and movies. I loved the feeling, of leaving the theatre very emotional, and I wanted to portray that in the book.

The story is about never giving up on life. Ok, the story is based about love, but it's deeper than that. I use the power of music, to break the protagonist free from the shackles of his misery, which lives within him.

The story is about never giving up on your dream: on life. Thomas the character from the book, has lost his way, and trapped in a abusive relationship, which was also fueling his low self-esteem.

AARIS, AARIS author, girl who made me sing, black humour author
AARIS, author of "The Girl Who Made Me Sing"

Tell us a bit about the protagonist.
Thomas Christo was a confident handsome man, who had an embedded low self-esteem.

Which gradually started to take more control of him. His girlfriend, used that to manipulate and control him for fear of losing him.

Although Thomas Christo, had a magical endearing quality about him, that attracted people to him, he never allowed himself to believe or accept it. He never really knew how to use this power.

The main character gets involved with a love affair that changes him. Can you elaborate a bit on this?

Yes, Dani Daniels, who is the love interest in the story, allows him to believe in himself again, and break free from his internal prison. which allows him to start living again.

“The Girl Who Made Me Sing” explores regret associated with missed chances. Why did you decide to explore this theme in the book?

Yes, I wanted to explore this, as we all have regrets and missed changes in life, that if we could go back in time, would we still make the same decision?

Did you draw upon your own beliefs and experiences when writing the book?
Yes, the story is an amalgamation of my own experiences in life told as a synopsis, i.e. very quick short story.

Can you tell us a bit about your creative process, from the initial idea for the novel to the finished manuscript?
Well, when I write, I first write done my ideas and feelings and then build a story around that. I'm presently finishing my second book called which takes the main character from "The Girl Who Made Me Sing," Dani Daniels; and builds a new story around her.

How do you hope readers react to your book?

I want to take the readers on an emotional rollercoaster, allowing them to feel every emotion that Thomas experiences. Shedding a tear in the last chapter but most importantly, leaving them craving for more.

How long have you been writing?
"The Girl Who Made Me Sing" was my first published book, but I have been writing most my life, and mentioned earlier, I am currently finishing my second book.

How do you think you've evolved as a writer since when you first started?
I feel I am a more polished writer now.

Are there any aspects of your writing that you've been practicing?
My spelling, that needs improvement.

What are your goals as a writer for the next ten years?
To publish one book per year.

How do you feel about the increasing popularity of ebooks?

Yes, would like to explore this avenue.

Is there any aspect of writing you don't like?
Not, really, I like all types.

Have you ever had writer's block?
Yes, I often do, but I seem to get inspired when I am out, walking, or having coffee. I seem to be able to write loads, when I'm out of my home. Very Strange!

Do you write with a computer, typewriter, or pen and paper? Why do you use this tool?
I firstly write my thoughts on pen and paper as I carry a paper notebook with me wherever I go. I then type them up at the earliest opportunity.

What do you have in mind for your next project?

My third book will be about conspiracy.

Is there anything else you'd like potential readers to know about "The Girl Who Made Me Sing"?
They should get a copy of my book haha!

Seriously, I'm just an average bloke who loves to write magical stories, who maybe is slightly naive,  but still believes in hope.

R.J. Trivett, Author of Bubble of Time

bubble of time, rj trivett, lyonnesse tales, humorous fantasy, funny fantasy book
Today we are interviewing R.J. Trivett, author of the humorous fantasy book "Bubble of Time (Lyonnesse Tales Book 1)."

Tell us a bit about yourself.

I’m a middle aged Devonian with a love of motorcycles and reading.

Describe the plot of “Bubble of Time” in a few sentences.
The plot of "Bubble of Time," such as it is, is a classic whodunit murder mystery. However, the plot is nothing more than a vehicle for the reader to begin exploring my Lyonnesse.

Who do you think would most appreciate this book?
So far the book has had favorable reviews from fans of Sir Terry Pratchett and Douglas Adams. I hope it will appeal to anyone who enjoys slightly offbeat humor with a touch of fantasy.

What inspired you to write a book about a utopic existence shattered by murder?
As I mentioned earlier, the plot is almost secondary. I chose a murder mystery because it is something that everyone is familiar with, and in a country where crime is virtually unheard of, it is all the more shocking.

Describe Lyonnesse for us.
My Lyonnesse is where I would very much like to live! It was hidden in a bubble of time (hence the title) by the Druids prior to the Roman invasion. It is connected to all points in space and time. In Lyonnesse life is simpler and where magic and mystery still exist, and on the whole people are kinder to one another. Money isn’t the be all and end all and life is respected and held sacred.

Without giving too much away, what can you tell us about the stranger that stumbles into Lyonnesse and investigates the murder?
Dave is an unassuming man in his thirties, who still lives in a bedsit, hates his job and loves exploring on his motorcycle.

Do you think your eclectic background, as a musician and mechanic, among other things, has influenced your writing style?

I think the more of life you see or have seen gives you a broader base of life’s tapestry to draw on and is bound to influence what goes into your writing. But as far as “my style” goes, I just try to write what I would like to read, an enjoyable story that you can get lost in.

Are there any authors who have influenced your writing style?

I’m a big fan of both Sir Terry Pratchett and Douglas Adams, the giants of comic fantasy, but the biggest influence comes from Spike Milligan. Growing up I loved the Goon Show, and as an adult I love his war memoirs, particularly the audio version (sadly no longer available) with him reading it. If you take them at face value they are incredibly funny. However, once you realize that they are actually his war diaries, and a picture of what went on in an attempt to keep sane, they are the more poignant.

Who was your favorite character to write?
Aunt Aggie without as shadow of a doubt. Although she is not one of the main characters, she is based on a school teacher I had. She was a spinster in harsh tweeds with a harsh tongue who terrified us.

What is your favorite book?
My favorite book changes depending on what mood I’m in. My favorite Discworld novel is Lords and Ladies, for Douglas Adams it is Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency. The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant is the best series of books, but Tad Williams War of the Flowers is my favorite stand alone book.

How do you feel about the increasing popularity of ebooks?
I think anything that gets more people to read is good. Ebook readers, and even mobile phones, give people easy access to books and that can only be a good thing. Although there are a lot of people producing ebooks, it allows some really good indie authors to get their work seen.

What are your goals as a writer for the next ten years?
Ten years? Blimey, I haven’t thought that far ahead. I’d like to be able to earn a living from my writing, but I’m not interested in fame and fortune.

Is there any aspect of writing you don't like?
Editing. I haven’t met an author yet that likes editing. It is one thing to sit down and write but another to sit there and pull it to pieces afterwards.

What do you have in mind for your next project?
The second book in the Lyonnesse Tales series, Quest in Time: A Beginning, is being proofed at the moment and I hope to release it later this year. It started as simply a follow up but has turned into a trilogy in its own right, and I am currently writing The Middle Bit, the third book. There are also a few more stories in the series waiting to get out, but I have a couple of mainstream fantasy novels that I want to write as well.

Is there anything else you'd like potential readers to know about your book?

"Bubble of Time" earned me membership of the Gumbee Fantasy Writers' Guild. It is a group of indie authors who work to produce books to a high standard, and consider humor to be an important part of human existence.

An excerpt from "Bubble of Time":
Shouting had broken out amongst the fortune tellers on the other side of the room. Snatches of conversation were audible above the general din.
“You take that back this minute! You hussy!”
“I never said no such thing! What I said was...”
     “We know what you said...”
“Look! You four eyed pheasant plucker! I said...”
A minor scuffle broke out. Clubs and cudgels appeared from beneath ceremonial robes and accidentally made contact with several skulls. After a general state of concussion had been achieved, things quietened down again.

 Sapphire of Sirius
    In a chamber of creation

    Eyes so dear, watching near
    Symbols from stars beyond.

Carving the blue whisper in my wind
A dear so near, holding the flame close-by.
Rays of stars, in symbols of soul stars
    A whisper of real.

Deep down in our plane, so clear
Missed clue of stars are so clear
I close my eyes and let a sapphire
   Teardrop near to my dear.

Closing choices, of realms so clear
Windows of stars, shining behind the Sun.
Secrets left behind, form of tears
    Behind the tree of life.

    Symbols of love, wisdom,
Creation of time, space of love
I collect and remember my pyramid
    Made from sapphire of Sirius.

Stardust of gods, kisses of goddess
I enter in timeless moments of eternal fire.
Bliss and spirit I walk as one
Once more, I am sapphire of Sirius.

Vickie Bryan, Author of Baby Steps to Divine Destiny

divine destiny, purpose driven, fulfillment, serving God, Christian

Today we are interviewing Vickie Bryan, author of "Baby Steps to Divine Destiny."

Tell us a bit about yourself.
I am an author who never dreamed of writing. Then one day I knew a book had been placed in my heart by the Holy Spirit. The only way to find out if I could even pen it was to sit down do it. After the first one, years went by and I did not know if I would write again. Well, that changed when the Lord placed another book in my heart, and so it goes.

Describe the purpose of your book in a few sentences.
"Baby Steps to Divine Destiny" is designed to motivate the reader towards fulfillment of their own God given destiny. How? One simple baby step at a time.

Who do you think would most appreciate this book?

Anyone frustrated, along with those who lack purpose or progress in their lives.
My desire for the reader is to finish this book inspired.

What inspired you to write a book that helps people fulfill their divine destiny?
People struggle with the question, “Why am I here?” In my own life, without a relationship with the Lord I am convinced I would have never written that first book. Others need to be encouraged to discover God’s purpose for them.

Can you elaborate on what is a person’s divine destiny?

Since we are talking about divine destiny, a scripture will help. "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; (Jeremiah 1:5 NIV)” Even before conception, God knew his purpose for the individual. As this scripture continued, it is the Lord who made his purpose known. The only way to understand divine destiny comes from a relationship with the Lord.

Your book encourages people to take baby steps in accomplishing their goal. Why is this important?

A baby step sounds simple and it is, but for some people a goal seems to lofty, so they do nothing. With one baby step at a time, momentum can be achieved.

How do you think reading your book will impact people?
It will build faith and motivation for people to get going and allow God to use them mightily.

What do you have in mind for your next writing project?
I have two book series I am working on: Nephilim Imprint and Christian Imprint Books. Nephilm Imprint Books brings Biblical understanding of wicked people whose heritage goes back to Genesis 6:4. Christian Imprint Books are back to the basic books. These are written for the believer in Jesus Christ to stay with sound doctrine and avoid masters of deception about us.

Is there anything else you'd like potential readers to know about your book?

"Baby Steps to Divine Destiny" is also a great tool to encourage a walk with the Lord as well as achieving divine destiny.

T.A. Foster, Author of The Magnolia Affair

t.a. foster, ta foster, romantic thriller, romantic suspense, the magnolia affair

Today we are interviewing T.A. Foster, author of the romantic thriller "The Magnolia Affair."

Tell us a bit about yourself.
T.A. Foster grew up catching rays and waves along the North Carolina Outer Banks and now resides in the state with her husband, three children and canine kiddo.

She has an undergraduate degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a graduate degree in Educational Psychology from Texas A&M University.  When she’s not chasing her two-legged and four-legged children or trying to escape for date night, you can find her reading, writing, or planning her next beach trip.

Describe the plot of your new book in a few sentences.

"The Magnolia Affair" is about a woman who finds herself caught up in a world she knows nothing about. Her naiveté becomes dangerous. As her story unfolds she ultimately has choices and that's what the book is about. What choices would you make?

Who do you think would most appreciate “The Magnolia Affair”?
I think fans of "Gone Girl" and "Scandal" would like it. It's sort of a blend of those types of genres. I've had a few readers tell me they caught glimpses of "House of Cards," but I've never seen that show.

What inspired you to write about a woman whose life turns upside down when she has an affair with a senator?
I read a news story last summer about a man who was found dead and later it was revealed his wife was having an affair with a very powerful man. The circumstances were completely different, but it started the wheels turning for me, and I started crafting the novel.

Tell us a bit about the protagonist, Audrey Kingston.
Audrey is like a lot of women. She has a life she always thought she wanted, but she catches glimpses of another path and it's enough to make her doubt herself. She's certainly a flawed character, but not a bad or evil one. She's human.

Is Audrey aware of the potential consequences of her affair during its early stages or is she completely oblivious?
She hasn't thought that far ahead when the affair begins. It's rather impulsive for her.

Are there any authors who have influenced your writing style?
The author I always come back to when I'm writing is Hemingway. Cut, cut, cut…I'm working on trying to shorten my descriptions and use just the right word every time. He was a master at that!

How do you hope readers respond to your book?
My ultimate goal is that readers feel something. If you read a book and it gives you nothing back then what was the point?

Have you ever had writer's block? If yes, how'd you deal with it? If you have not had writer's block, why do you think you haven't?
I have occasionally written things I hated, then deleted, then rewrote the same thing again. When I get stuck in that kind of rut I try to go for a walk or sneak in a workout. It usually helps.

What do you have in mind for your next project?
I'm working on a paranormal project right now with details coming out in the next couple of weeks.

Short book excerpt to be included after the interview:

I am having an affair.

I know what you’re thinking. There has to be a reason. There needs to be a reason. Something acceptable like after five years of marriage I had spent too many nights alone with a glass of wine. Or when my workaholic husband was home, we slept back to back, as if he had forgotten how to touch me.
You would understand that. You’d probably pity me and say, “Bless her heart. How could a husband treat his wife that way? What else could you do?”
You’d want me to tell you that the only thing we exchanged was conversations about the weather and updates on what needed to be added to the grocery list.
It would probably calm the judgment bubbling to the surface if I described how we ate dinner in front of the television, commenting occasionally on a drastic cliffhanger to be continued next week.
You’d give me a look of pity if I told you he stopped noticing when I got my hair cut, or if I walked into the room in a new dress.
The story would start to come together in your mind if I painted a picture of how we went to bed at separate times out of habit, forgetting that we once scheduled everything around the other.
You could see it happening. You would almost feel it slipping away like water through your fingertips. It might create doubt about your own marriage, even though you’d shake your head, knowing that couldn’t happen to you. Little pieces of your own truth filtering in between the images you have of us.
It wasn’t my fault. That’s what you’d tell yourself. You’d probably want to hug me and console me with the soothing words, “It’s understandable. No one can blame you.”
But, I have a confession. Something you won’t want to hear. Words that will haunt you more than the excuses. None of it is true. My husband didn’t do those things. There isn’t a single thing that led me to another man.
I am having an affair for the worst possible reason. Because I can.
