Lory La Selva Paduano, Author of Wonderland Series

wonderland series, lory la selva paduano, wonderland sereis book
Today we are interviewing Lory La Selva Paduano, author of "Wonderland Series."

Describe the plot of “Wonderland Series” in a few sentences.
The white Covenant reigns for all eternity in Wonderland. It's the maker of all things good and evil, pure or soiled, damaged or saintly. Adira and her panel fight against insurmountable odds for all that is dear to them, for having ultimate powers and supremacy over all, had their on lookers envious and as always seeking their destruction.

Who is the target audience for “Wonderland Series”?

For the most part, the "Wonderland Series" was a story I began writing when I was 14. It clenches to the likes of readers who love the HBO series 'Game of Thrones' because the similarities are evident. Inspired by George R.R. Martins series, I began my own version at a young age, and continued in adulthood only to find out about him and his wonderful books just years ago. I like to bring realistic scenarios to the fantasy - fiction part, like I do with all my books.

What inspired you to set “Wonderland Series” in medieval times?

I love the old world, I love History, and I believe in some other life time, I may have lived it and being of noble blood myself, finding out through ancestry research, it all makes sense that I would naturally be connected to the era , even that of the 10th and 11th century where my grandfather's ''house name'', was the first name to make it to the nobility status and continued on well into the 21st century. As they say ''We can't hide who we really are'' or ''May History live on!''

Tell us a bit about the protagonist, Adira.

Adira is a well poised, young and an inexperienced teenager . She's a heroine, a good role model to young woman today, who are lost or misguided. Adira starts off as peasant girl, and she comes into a role of importance at a tender age, but as the books go on, she matures, and gains wisdom, she's also behind every great achievement Wonderland has ever faced. I'd like to say she is definitely the ''matriarch'' of all the characters, and definitely someone who has progressed through out her existence in Wonderland. She's unbreakable, a true testament to word ''Resilient''.

Are there any authors who have influenced your writing style?

Phiippa Gregory is an author I admire, when it comes to her books, in particular "The White Queen." She's flawless in her executions, her plots are grand, and her writing - divine! She's had some influence on me, and I imagine it's for the mere fact that we have similarities in different areas, when it came to medieval fantasy. I'm usually doing my own thing, and have so, since a young age.

Will fans of your other work find any similarities between your other work and “Wonderland Series”?

When writing Historical – Fantasy or Fiction, there's many elements that are the same. Wonderland has mythical creatures, whereas my fourth book "The High Priestess" or even the fifth book to come this summer 2015, "The Legacy of a Legend" don't hold fantasy at all. The importance of sticking to the genre of Historical – Fiction, hadn't only meant that I wasn't able to branch out in its categories. It's strategically done, but it isn't complicated, not for a seasoned writer like myself, the bottom line...History is always the foundation or undertone if you will, for all my story lines.

What do you have in mind for your next project?

As previously mentioned above, "The Legacy of a Legend" coming this summer, is my fifth and last book for little while. I'm going to take a break and tend to an illness that needs much attention. Nothing serious, but it does impede on my writing and so my therapist and I,  are going to take the time to correct it, so that I may bring my fans and the avid readers out there much more!

Is there anything else you'd like potential readers to know about your book?

Wonderland was initially three books, each holding their own title of Book #1) A quest for the four keys in Wonderland, Book #2) Beyond Wonderland and finally Book #3) We are Legion, We are Wonderland'. These titles still exist, but they are captured in one book for the lover of all things big and continuous. Entitled the "Wonderland Series," the newly ''revamped'' book is also for the readers who never have enough, or for the people who want to purchase a one time package. Book 1, was initially written 26 years ago, by a teenage girl (me) who was lost in this world, and had to face many issues head on, issues that none of my peers around me understood or sympathized with me at the time. In my adulthood, I turned back the hands of time, and fed into my calling and almost three decades later the "Wonderland Series" was published!

Today, the 'Wonderland Series' is always a proud guest of all comiccons, in and around North America, and all my works will be featured this summer in Lafayette, Louisiana on television, a live author interview with a studio audience , for a dedicated show to their community and across America for channel 16 on AOC. Please look for me and my works, read my reviews on any of my books on Amazon.com or Barnes & Noble, also take a look at www.BlueInkreviews.com for what the leaders in the reviews industry had to say about the "Wonderland Series" Book 3. Please like my facebook page www.facebook.com/KingCamden, where there, you may also find the future buy links coming the first week of June, 2015. A fantastical story from beginning to end, it's sure to take you on a fast paced journey and an adventure that many have said it merits a place on  the silver screen.

"Wonderland Series" book description:
Action packed with all a gratifying story has to offer! For the reader who seeks danger, love, romances, sex and a cast of intriguing characters with a will of their own, this book is just the ticket. An ingenious approach to demiurgic storytelling, the author holds nothing back, as her daring and inviting plots will make you wish; you were part of the crew and stuck in Wonderland permanently.

LORD TOPH, Author of The Girl Who Cannot Sneeze

LORD TOPH, the girl who cannot sneeze, sneezing book, starfield stories

Today we are interviewing LORD TOPH, author of "The Girl Who Cannot Sneeze."

Tell us a bit about yourself.
I am an artist, composer, producer, and a writer. I have written many volumes of poetry, as well as works in short story and novel length.  Creative writing is a big passion of mine, I must admit.

Describe the plot of your book in a few sentences.
Well… The story is about a young girl named Icha, that lives on a peaceful little island called, Kimp Pu. Icha is a perfectly happy and normal young girl, but she is not too pleased to know that she can’t sneeze. So, with the help of her aunt and friends, she begins an experimental mission to make herself sneeze.  In the process, Icha and her friends learn a few valuable lessons they’ll carry with them throughout life.

Who do you think would most appreciate this book?
Whenever I think of children’s stories with morals and important fundamentals, I think of the conscious parents that still want to teach courtesy, good manners, and etiquette, and work hard to pass it down to their children.  So, perhaps the caring and conscious parent(s) that still loves to teach and read to their children… That’s who I feel would most appreciate this book.

What inspired you to write a story about a girl’s inability to sneeze resulting in rich discoveries and experiences?

(Smiling) Well… actually and quite ironically – The story was inspired by a dear friend of mine that sneezes all the time. And humorously, each time she begins to sneeze… there is a slowww prelude of “icha… ichaa… ichaaaahh,” before the sneezing finale. This is where the main character in the book, Icha, gets her name from. One day I thought, “What if she (my friend) just stopped sneezing altogether… how relieved and happy would she be?” The irony of her not being able to sneeze is what gave me the idea for the story.

Tell us a bit about the protagonist, Icha.
Aha… Icha.  She’s a kind sweet-spirited young girl, who lives with her aunt. Icha is quite responsible and mature for her age. Though she is soft-spoken, she is somewhat of a quiet leader among her peers.

The story is set on the small island of Kimp Pu. Was this island inspired by places you’ve been?
(Chuckling) I’d like to say it was… but in all honesty, no. Classic stories like “Robinson Crusoe,” “Treasure Island,” “Peter Pan,” etc. have always fascinated me with the setting of an island. So I thought an island would be the perfect place for Icha to grow up.

Humor is a big part of the book. Has humor always been a part of your writing or is it something that developed recently?
Yes, I would say that many instances in the book are humorous, but there are those endearing moments as well. Humor, I feel, is an essential component to incorporate in children’s literature. Everyone should have a laugh – especially children.

Who was your favorite character to write?
Icha, of course! However it was fun creating, Mrs. Mei Lu… She’s a gas!

How long have you been illustrating?
I’ve been illustrating from the time I could actually hold a pencil or a pen. It’s been a long time… too long to tell (smile).

What did you hope to accomplish with the illustrations in the book?
I hoped the illustrations in this book would give young readers/listeners more visual insight on Icha, Kimp Pu, and the occurrences in the story.

Can you tell us a bit about the creative process of the book, from the initial idea to writing/illustrating to the published book?

I’m usually isolated during the creative process of creating a story – Head down, looking at drafts of scribblings on paper, or eyes on the screen of my pc… drinking Earl Grey, lots and lots of Earl Grey!

Is there any aspect of writing you don't like?

I suppose there is always that moment or two where every author pauses in the midst of literary mindset and says, “Now, huh? What?!?” It’s always those little moments that make you feel a bit apprehensive, but you work your way through.

How do you hope readers are impacted by reading “The Girl Who Could Not Sneeze”?

Happy… fulfilled… and perhaps they’ll want to read it again and share it with someone else.

What do you have in mind for your next project?
Ahhh… you’ll have to visit StarField Stories to find that out (smiling). But, I’ll give you a bit of a hint. It’s a picture book, and it should be released this summer.

Is there anything else you'd like potential readers to know about your book?

Saying this not as an author, but someone who merely enjoys a good story… It’s a heart-warming tale that I personally will cherish.

A short excerpt from "The Girl Who Cannot Sneeze":

"Hey, wait a minute! I haven’t heard you sneeze one time today. In fact Icha… now that I think of it… I don’t think I have ever heard you sneeze!"

Amber Khan, Author of Guilt Free Motherhood

guilt free motherhood, amber khan, super mum, mum burnout, mom burnout book

Today we are interviewing Amber Khan, author of "Guilt Free Motherhood: A 5 step guide to reclaiming your time, health & well-being."

Tell us a bit about yourself.
Amber Khan is a Lifestyle Mentor, Speaker, Author, sports enthusiast and a proud mum of three.

She is the founder of Guilt Free Living which provides tools for the mothers to help them live a fulfilling, healthy & energised lifestyle.

She has ran retreats, given talks and written articles on the importance of wellness and how to re-energise the tired minds and bodies of mothers.

Amber currently resides in London, UK with her husband and their three children.

Describe the purpose of your book in a few sentences.
The book is written for mothers who fall through the trap of mummy guilt. I wrote the book because I believe that a mother's journey should not be, and need not be, a GUILT trip. Guilt Free Motherhood gives mothers the tools they need to start living a more contented, healthy and energized lifestyle today – right in the midst of motherhood.

Who do you think would most appreciate this book?
Mothers & their partners.

What inspired you to write a book about “Mummy Guilt”?
Unfortunately, I’ve been there & got the t-shirt. My health started to suffer seriously under the pressure of mummy guilt & after years of neglect I finaly realised that taking care of self is even more if not as much important as looking after your family. Other mums started to notice the change in myself & my lifestyle & started asking questions. After answering hundreds of questions on one to one basis, I realised that I could help a lot more mums if I just write about it all. The rest as they say is history.

Why do you think so many mothers feel pressure to be a “super mum”? Where does this pressure come from?
Mums these days have got a lot on their plates. Add to that peer pressure (from fellow mums) & most succumb to it, resulting in a guilt ridden mum. The pressure to be like other mums, to do what they do, how they do it & how to do it all creates the need to be a super mum. Mum can do it all is a mantra in majority of the households putting even more pressure on mums & the need to be a super mum.

Do you think modern media, including social media, has influenced mothers’ ideas about how they should care for themselves and their children?
Yes media plays a big role. Personalities like Martha Stewart have heavily influenced mothers telling them that they can do it all. Like, why buy cakes for kid’s school bake sale when you can bake them yourself? Or why buy baby food when you can puree’ food yourself?

I’m not saying not to do those things. But if you are already overwhelmed & over extended with the number of tasks & responsibilities you have then such things can give way for easier options. No one will know if you bought the cakes or baked them yourself. There are some great organic options available for baby food so if on days you can’t puree’ baby food, it is ok to feed them ready made jars. Trust in yourself that you are doing the best you can & the actions you are taking are for the best of your family and your own sanity.

What are some of the consequences of being a “super mum”?
The consequences are pretty serious for most mothers. Being a super mum for too long may result in stress which can then result in burnout, health decline (both physical & mental).

How do you think reading your book will impact people?
Well I hope that mothers around the world find it helpful in the sense that they do not feel the need to be a super mum in order to be a good mum. If they do so, their health & well-being will flourish. Plus they will have more time to spend with their family or to do something they enjoy like taking on a new course for example.

What do you have in mind for your next writing project?
Funny you asked that. I’m already onto it but it won’t be about parenting but about running a profitable online business. As lots of mothers often ask me about working from home, or change of career after having babies, what is the possibility of going self-employed & how to do it? It won’t necessarily be just for mothers but they can equally benefit.

Richard Butler, Author of Life Handbook | 41 Lessons in Life

41 lessons, a life handbook, richard butler, self development book, life handbook

Today we are interviewing Richard Butler author of "Life Handbook - 41 Lessons in Life - A Journey Shared."

Tell us a bit about yourself.
My name is Richard Butler, and I was born in California, but moved to Dublin when I was 2 years of age.  I spent most of my life living in Dublin, but due to my mom’s background I had a love for Spanish, and from my dad I inherited a love for teaching. Having left college I pursued a career in teaching, and in 2001 wrote my first “real” book.  I lived the dream… got a good job, married, bought a house, had a kid, and then in 2007 everything took a turn for the worst, I lost my job, my marriage, and just about everything!  I moved to Barcelona and started a new life there working for a recruitment company, that enabled me to travel the world!

Describe the purpose of your book in a few sentences.
The purpose is quite simple, to show people that life is worth living, lessons can be learnt from everything that happens to you.  The idea of the book is to let people know that what is happening to them is not unique but has happened to many people. Within every event there is a lesson to be learnt and this helps us grow into the people that we are today.

Who do you think would most appreciate this book?
People who are perhaps looking for direction in life, who may have reached their mid to late 30s and are approaching their 40s, wondering is there more to life? How did I get there? Is there something that I can do in this world to make a difference?

Author Richard Butler, life handbook
Author/life coach Richard Butler

What inspired you to write a book about your discovery of what is important in life?
I have read many self help books and found that most of them preach about ideas, things you must do, exercises you must undertake in order to become a better person.  However I have found that what is important is to realise that you are where you are because of the choices that you have made.  These choices are unique to you and have helped you get to where you are.

I believe that what has happened to me is not unique, not anything out of the ordinary, but something that is normal.  This normality means that I am like you, facing the same problems, but perhaps I can show you the solutions from what I have learnt!

In the book, you use an informal style, like a chat in a café. Why did you decide to use this writing style?
I believe that people relate to people they like.  You don’t sit down and listen to some who is preaching to you or making you feel as if they are better than you.  Thus the style in my book is relaxed, informal, much like as if we were having a chat in a cafe. I am letting you know what I have learnt, with no judgement on my part.

It is just like you and me meeting and having a coffee and discussing about life.

The process of writing this book was unique in that you wrote much of this while on a train or waiting for a flight. Can you share a bit more about the writing process?
As I said above I wanted the book to be accessible to all, and help people relate by coming into my life and seeing what was happening to me.  The idea is to make you feel as if you are part of my life and that you and me are communicating directly.  We are both taking a journey around the world together!

I also got inspiration from where I was at a particular moment. Sometimes we take our surroundings for granted, and don’t really look at where we are and appreciate the simple things.  You know waiting in an airport or sitting in a seat in economy class on a 12 hour flight to South American gives you time to reflect.

I think all of my readers will be in similar positions where they will have a few hours to reflect and this is what I hope they will do.

One of the themes of the book is how we need to find what is important in life and prioritize it. How does one go about this process?
That is an interesting question, and to be honest I really believe that it depends on the person, and the particular moment they are in.  Let me give you an example. Right now if a person does not have enough money to pay the rent, their number one priority will be to make money to cover the rent.

However let me tell you that recently I had to make a decision that could have changed my life, however my main priority was to enjoy life, and be in a happy place (which was Barcelona), so instead of taking the offer that was given to me, I decided not to do it.  My reason was that living a good life in a nice place was the most important thing!

How do you think reading your book will impact people?
I don’t want to sound like a guru, or anything like that as that’s just not me.  However, I would hope that for under $2 I can make a positive impact in people's life.  I can make them stop for a moment and thing about life and perhaps make a new decision that can help them succeed in life.

The book provides ideas, lessons, but not answers, and ideas to make you think.

Do you have something in mind for your next writing project?

Actually yes!  I really enjoy my cafe style and think my readers do to! The next book is about a topic that I have just gone through, and that is divorce!  It is not a pleasant experience, but I learnt a lot of lessons from it, which I am turning into my next book.  I also have other ideas that will all help us get a better insight into life.

Is there anything else you'd like potential readers to know about your book?
I would like to let them know that this book is not your typical boring self help book (man have I read a lot of those), rather it is a real journey into the very soul of a man who has lived through many of the common problems in life and how he has dealt with them.  There’s no exercises and no extra reading needed. Everything you need can be found in the book.

tawana necole, corporate chics, women execs, women ceos
Today we are interviewing Tawana Necole, author of the chick lit/true fiction book "Corporate Chis Volume 1."

About "Corporate Chics Volume 1."
"Corporate Chics Volume 1," the first of the trilogy, is unique, innovative, and entertaining because of its IM (Instant Messaging) format. Koilya is a beautiful, educated, female who recently graduated college and has entered into the corporate world. Through friendships with co-workers in her new role, she is on a consistent journey of learning all about life through their mistakes but most importantly her experiences. On this journey, Koilya learns vital lessons about finances, marriage, sex, love, false perceptions, envy, friendship, and infidelity. Koilya's philosophy of life leads her through a destructive world wind. If she doesn't wake up and realize that her selfishness is the reason for the misfortune she is encountering, she could ultimately lose everything that she has worked so hard to obtain.

Tell us a bit about yourself.
I am a Creative Artist, Entrepreneur, Sistapreneur, Mompreneur, and Corporate Chic. I see Writing as a beautiful expression. It's my experiences and something that I do from the heart. It's MY therapy. My Release... I am an Author and Business Consultant/Project Manager. Holding several degrees in business, I am on a mission to utilizing my experiences, skills, and resources, to empower, encourage, and entertain.

Describe the plot of your new book in a few sentences.
The plot is developed around a young female transitioning from college into the real world. Faced with betrayal, addictions and deception she is on a quest of finding herself and love.

Who do you think would most appreciate this book?
Women ages 18-50 looking to relate and find themselves in the process.

What inspired you to write a book about a beautiful, educated young woman who enters the corporate world?
It is the story of many young females in our society. She is you and she is me. And I was inspired to bring that story to life with perspective.
To be released late July 2015

Tell us a bit about the main character, Koilya.
Koilya is smart and very opinionated. She has internal issues but recognizes them immediately entering into the Corporate World. She is on an unconscious journey of learning about Life and Its Many Lessons.

Your book is unique because it uses the Instant Messaging format. What made you decide to take this approach to the story?
I wanted to create something that has never been done. I wanted to be original in my story telling. I also wanted the book to be an easy read. I adapted our 21st century communication skills and made it relatable.

Are there any authors who have influenced your writing style?
Iyanla Vanzant is my favorite non-fiction writer and Nikki Turner is my favorite fiction writer. I wrote "Corporate Chics" with the intention if it being a conscious dramatic filled story with perspective and some advice. So I believe it is a great combination of their writing styles; which is my writing style.

How do you feel about the increasing popularity of ebooks?
I am not a fan of ebooks. Audiobooks – YES! But I never finish reading ebooks. I am traditional and old school in so many ways. I just love purchasing books; possibly meeting the author so they can sign it and reading it from beginning to end. There is just something about literally reading a “page-turner.”

Without giving too much away, what can readers expect from the next book in the series?
"Corporate Chics Volume 2" will dig deep into the protagonists’ work life and how she tries to juggle being a new mother, co-workers, and her chaotic love life. Expect that along with the Corporate Chics Coloring and Activity Book late July 2015.

Author Kristel Keys Running

Who do you think would most appreciate this book?

Small business owners who want to undertake communication efforts themselves. Communication managers or staff to increase their efforts.

What inspired you to write a book to help businesses recognize that communication is an important aspect of a successful business?

After working in many different industries over the past 15 years in communications, I have seen many communication problems, assumptions and failures. I want to help businesses organize their communication efforts into a strategic plan to get the most of out their time and efforts.

Why do you think many businesses undervalue communication?

I do. Many businesses want communication to happen, however they don’t provide the time for effective communication to take place. Or they think communication will just happen and there is no strategy to it. I discuss this in detail in the book.

What are some of the biggest problems business have with communication?

I actually have a whole chapter dedicated to the biggest problems and how to overcome them. Time is a big one.

Do you think modern communication technology, such as text messaging and video conference calls, makes business communication easier?

It has definitely made  business communication easier. I’m not sure it’s more effective, but it is definitely easier. We’ve come to a point in our lives where we have too much communication due to these modern conveniences, so it’s more challenging to weed through all the information we have access to.

How do you think reading your book will impact people?

It is my hope that readers understand the importance of strategic communication and it will make it easier for them. Easier and more successful.

J.-F. Bouchard, author of How To Build James Bond's Unshakable Self Confidence

james bond's confidence, build confidence book, j.-f. bouchard, increase confidence
Today we are interviewing J.-F. Bouchard, author of "How To Build James Bond's Unshakable Self Confidence."

Tell us a bit about yourself.
I was born in Trois-Rivieres, Quebec. Studied computer science, networking and Information security as well as behavioural psychology.

My work as an International Information Security Consultant for Military and NGO organizations led me to work in some of the world's most dangerous places such as Afghanistan and Iraq.

As an International Information Security Consultant, I found myself doing everything from flying helicopters and performing car stunts to mastering body language everywhere from boardrooms to war zones.

Close friends started to call me James Bond in relation to my expanding skill sets and fearless way I was taking on challenges one after an other, but mainly because of where I worked and the lavish lifestyle I was sporting. I founded SuperSpyMe.com to reach out to all of those who needed help raising their confidence, self esteem and become their own version of James Bond.

Describe the purpose of your book in a few sentences.
The book enables struggling folks to harness the power within to conquer fear, expand comfort zone and life a full life. In a few pages I managed lay the foundation to raise a plan that works with achievable objectives to tackle anything life can throw you.

Who do you think would most appreciate this book?

Anyone that needs a good system to get over lifelong fears, set a good foundation to tackle comfort zone expanding challenges.

The book is based around your self-developed S.M.A.R.T. objectives. What can you tell us about these objectives?
SMART is a system that enables the user to set achievable goals in a timely manner. The point of those objectives are the foundation you need to tackle any kind of projects. Not just Self-confidence boosting ones. When someone has purpose and direction his chances of success are very high. That is why I deemed it was important to bring this up at the beginning of the book.

How did you decide upon which specific objectives to work on with readers?
To be successful you need a plan, Sun Tsu, Machiavelli, Napoleon, Julius Caesar will tell you that. If your objective is to rise your confidence to James Bond’s level you definitely need to have the tools to make it so. That was a must in my view.

Then, one needs to conquer his Fears. Fear is the number one reason people are lacking confidence; fear hold them down, tucked in the comfort zone where everything is safe and predictable.

Sometime a little push is all you need and so I added a few “hacks” to use in your daily life that can make a measurable change in how your confidence rises. Things like your body command your mind and vice-versa. Holding a power posture will make you brain feeling it is powerful. Proven scientifically.

What are some of the benefits of building confidence?

Confidence is the difference between great success and dashing character and low self esteem scared chap. Confidence brings you where you want to go. Not where life brings you and to me this is a huge difference.

What do you hope readers take away from reading your book?
Use the tools. Set crazy goals and achieve them. Overcome their fear and become the leaders they deserve to be.

Once you understand the power of achievement you’ll be more incline to tackle bigger challenges and start being successful. There is no better way to confident than to be achiever. If only 1 reader gets the point and accept change. I’ll feel accomplished, and the purpose of the book would have bear fruits.

What do you have in mind for your next writing project?
I’m already half way through the companion book for "How to Build James Bond’s UNSHAKABLE Confidence," it is a mission style book filed with challenges. There are 7 categories missions to pick from. The idea is to work on the weak spots to make them stronger rising confidence in that field, expanding comfort zone and start achieving to grow James Bond confident.

It is a request from readers who what to have concrete examples on how to work the SMART system.

Is there anything else you'd like potential readers to know about your book?
The book is a short read, but don’t be fooled by its length. I’m about achieving and fulfilling. Being efficient is to bring all that is needed to the table and avoid spinning in circles. D’like the readers not to be shy and contact me with their questions using SuperSpyMe.com

What are some of the biggest misconceptions people have about why relationships fail?

The biggest misconception people have about why their relationships fail is that they think something is wrong with them, that they don’t deserve to be happy, well I’m here to tell them that this is not true everyone deserves to be happy in a relationship my book will show them how.

How has technology, such as dating apps and sites, changed the dynamic of dating and relationships?

In this age of instant gratification technology has actually helped and hindered relationships, it helps because you have a greater pool of people to choose from, but it hurts because you’re missing the human component of personal contact

When people first start dating, should they begin thinking about long-term compatibility? Or is it best to give it time to see how the relationship develops?

Each relationship is unique while it’s always a good idea to see how the relationship develops thinking about long term compatibility is ok just don’t rush into anything

The divorce rate seems to climb every year. Why do you think this is?

Someone once said, “the number 1 cause of divorce is marriage.” It’s funny but technically true… people rush into marriage before knowing or testing the waters marriage is very important and that step needs to be taken once you KNOW that this person is the one.

How do you think reading your book will impact people?

I hope that it will give people an idea of what issues can occur in a relationship and perhaps that knowledge will help them prevent or at least overcome these problems.

What do you have in mind for your next writing project?

I am actually working on my first full length fiction novel titled “Alex Castle."

Today we are interviewing Robert Moment about his book, "How to Be Happy- Life Coaching Strategies and Ideas to Be Happy in Life and With Yourself."

Tell us about your new book,  "How to Be Happy- Life Coaching Strategies and Ideas to Be  Happy in Life and With Yourself."

I wrote this happiness book because so many people struggle with being happy with themselves and self love. One of the first life coaching questions I ask the reader - “When was the last time you felt and truly experienced sustainable and real happiness in your life?”. I ask the reader to be 100% honest with their answer. Happiness is a choice. One of the greatest life coaching lessons of this book is to show the reader the mirror and teach them how to love themselves and be happy when they see themselves in the mirror as a precious Gift to this world.

What advice do you hope readers take away from reading the book?
Happiness is not an emotion but a state of mind. I want the reader to know that everyone deserves to be happy.  Throughout this book, I’ll help you take the steps you need in order to achieve greater happiness in your everyday life. I’ll not just tell you about those steps, but I’ll show you how those steps can get you from here to there.

This happiness book will provide enormous benefits to the reader such as:

  • Learn to make yourself happy rather than relying on others to make you happy
  • Learn how to make choices that offer you greater happiness
  • Understanding key aspects of your life that may be holding back your happiness
  • Learning the steps to create your own 'happiness formula'
What do you think is the biggest challenge trying to finding happiness in life?
We need to ask ourselves the right questions and define what happiness means to each and everyone of us. I help the read create their own 'happiness formula'. Try this coaching exercise: get a piece of paper and try to write a description of how you really feel about yourself this very moment. It doesn't matter whether it's 30 words long or 800 words; the key is to describe how you're feeling about yourself at this moment.

Use that piece of paper to get rid of your negative emotions. Get rid of that confusion or that doubt, the conflict, or the pain. Whether you verbally express your disappointments, discouragements, or negative feelings or you prefer to write them down, get them out. It's time to clear your mind and develop a wellness plan for your mental and emotional health.

The goal of this book is to help you along on your journey to creating a stronger sense of yourself that will create a better "outer life" for you on a daily basis.

Shirley McCann, Author of The Scarry Inn

the scarry inn, shirley mccann, shirley author, horror young adult, spooky ya
Today we are interviewing Shirley McCann, author of the YA suspense novel The Scarry Inn.

Tell us a bit about yourself.

Shirley McCann has been writing short stories for over 20 years. Her work has been published in various publications including, Woman’s World, Alfred Hitchcock Mystery Magazine and the Forensic Examiner.   YA has always been a favorite genre to read and write. She lives in Springfield, Missouri with her husband, two children, and three grandchildren.

Describe the plot of your new book in a few sentences.

Four teenagers traveling through a snowstorm on Christmas Eve have car trouble and pull into a gas station; the car promptly dies. The gas station owner and his wife are closing because of the storm, but take the kids to a nearby motel, owned by relatives Dick and Thelma Scarry, for the night. No cell phone service, no phone of any kind probably because of the storm. Strange things begin happening at the motel. And continue, becoming more creepy with each incident. Is it "atmosphere" to fit the motel's name? Or is it...something...else?

Who do you think would most appreciate this book?

Definitely the YA crowd and young readers, but also the young at heart and anyone who loves a good mystery.

What inspired you to write a book about three friends stuck in a murderous inn, trying to reach safety?

The idea came to me when my husband and I were on our way home to Missouri from California. Our car broke down in a town called Ashfork, Arizona.  The motel was very run down. Then the writer’s mind kicked in.

Tell us a bit about the three protagonists.
Heidi Bowman, still upset because of her parents’ divorce, invites her three friends to tag along to her first meeting with her father, new wife and half-sister. Beau is Heidi’s boyfriend and confidente. Kara and Heidi have been friends for years, although Kara is a bit self-absorbed at times. Alex is Kara’s boyfriend, and a bit of a clumsy nerd.

The main characters find the atmosphere at The Scarry Inn to be unwelcoming. Can you describe the atmosphere for us?

Spooky, creepy, unsettling.

Are the owners of the Scarry Inn aware of how creepy their inn is? Or are they oblivious?

No. The people the teens encounter when they check in are people posing as the owners. One owner is already dead, and the other one is in an upstairs bedroom, passed out during most of the story.  However, the teenagers aren’t aware of this fact.

Who was your favorite character to write?

Harold Story. His wife, Madge, is related to the owners of the inn. But Harold’s character is a bit complex. He’s not friendly, but not unfriendly either. Very passive. The teenagers think he could be involved in trying to scare them.

Have you always been a fan of scary stories or is this something that developed recently?

I’ve always been a fan. Fear Street by R.L. Stine is still a favorite of mine. Also, anything by Lois Duncan.  I still read those from time to time.

What drew you to the young adult genre?

I’ve always been a fan.  Still read YA to this day. Guess I’m just one of those young at heart people.

Is there any aspect of writing you don't like?

Finding the time! I’m home with a bedridden, paraplegic husband, babysitting to three young grandchildren, and I work part time. Hard to find a balance at times. But it’s also a great escape. It’s true what they say – you can lose yourself in a good book.

Have you ever had writer's block? If yes, how'd you deal with it?

Nope never. There’s always a story of some kind out there. If I get stuck, I’ll just start a short story, which is also a favorite of mine.

What do you have in mind for your next project?

I’m already working on the sequel to the Scarry Inn. Hoping to have six books in the series.

Is there anything else you'd like potential readers to know about your book?

It’s the first in the series. It will set up the inn and the owners.  The sequel will involve a murder mystery weekend grand opening, which will obviously work out differently than planned.

A short excerpt from The Scarry Inn:
“Nothing’s happening,” she said. She slumped onto the bed. “There’s no dial tone.”
Alex reached for the receiver, following the same routine. His facial muscles tightened. “Damn it!” He tossed the phone across the room
Beau slumped against a wall and closed his eyes. “Maybe we should just try the main house again,” he said. He shok his head. “I’m so tired of this I just want to get to a phone.”
Heidi nodded. She stood suddenly and her calling card fell to the floor. “But maybe we should just hike down the hill instead.” Her voice cracked through her tears. “Maybe we can stop a motorist along the way and hitch a ride to a police station.” She reached down to retrieve her card, when her fingers touched something wet and sticky. “Oh, gross!” She grimaced. “What’s on this floor?”
Beau directed the flashlight beam toward her face as she brought her hand up to reveal a brownish, red substance. In a fevered rush, Heidi felt the blood drain from her face. Her body sagged with a fear she’d never experienced before. She held her breath and followed Beau’s light as she slowly directed the beam toward her feet.
    Bile rose in her throat.
Beneath the bed, Kara’s hair knotted around her face in tangles of dried blood. A jagged gash followed her neck from one side to the other. Her normally flawless complexion was now a distorted mix of shock and horror.
